ESM Adult Sunday School*
Sept. 7 - Dec., 2008
C.L.A.S.S. 101 – Discovering Church Membership &
Baptismal Class (PART I & II) (Floyd W.)
In Part I, we will be studying the book ‘Discipleship Essentials',
focusing on the first 6 studies dealing with understanding
salvation, the meaning of baptism and Holy Communion. Later on, in
Part II, the Christian & Missionary Alliance history & thought, and
the Four-fold gospel will be incorporated in a 3-hour afternoon
session with Pastor Daniel, which is mandatory for all baptismal
candidates and transfer of membership candidates.
C.L.A.S.S. 301 - Discovering My Ministry
(S.H.A.P.E.) (Edward C.)
This course is the third of the four basic courses developed for
OCAC ESM. It will help you to discover your unique design for
ministry and to commit yourself in developing your God given
Spiritual gifts in serving Him and others through the church. Five
personal factors (S.H.A.P.E.) will be discussed to identify the
specific traits you possess and the ministries God has designed you
for.
C.L.A.S.S. 506 – Love to Pray (Vien L.
and Wendy L.)
Too often, our motivation to pray is based on guilt or shame from a
lack of prayer in our lives. According to the author of the "Love to
Pray" devotional series, "prayer is the talking part of the most
important love relationship in my life". This class aims to bring us
closer to experiencing joy in prayer, rather than viewing it as an
obligation. In a small group atmosphere, we'll be going through
daily devotionals that focus on prayer, with two small groups of 4
people led by Wendy and Vien. We'll also be taking time to pray for
those in our lives who do not yet know Christ, praying through the
scripture, and prayer walks.
C.L.A.S.S. 215 – Seven Churches in the Book of
Revelation (Mrs. Marilyn Martin)
A study of the Letters to the Seven Churches of the Revelation: In
this study we will explore the contemporary situation that prompted
John the Apostle to write these letters to the seven churches in
Asia Minor. Each letter pointedly addresses an issue that was
hindering the church in following Christ. We will want to ask the
question, “How do John’s letters address the issues of the church
today and how ought we to respond?”
C.L.A.S.S. 240 – Old Testament Character Study:
Abraham - Created to be God's Friend (Matt. N.)
The shaping of character involves both positive and negative moments
that God uses together for good. Seeing Abraham's life from God's
activities and perspective may help you re examine your own
character. Take this opportunity to see, through Abraham's life, the
ways of the Lord and His nature, so that you may respond faithfully,
immediately, and thoroughly to Him in your life. This course
involves material from Henry Blackaby.
* All classes are taken place from 11:15 am - 12:45 pm at the
Somerset Community Centre. |
