Alliance Women Prayer Items September 2008

[Current month]

Effective Prayer (from the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada)
An inseparable link exists between prayer and fruitful ministry, since it is through our prayers that God has chosen to unleash his power. There are seven ways to help you pray more effectively for Alliance missionaries.

Bill & Diane Finnemore (Poland)
Bill was invited to go and help in the outreach event of Christian biker club called “Boanerges” on the Polish - German border. The Boanerges club had a huge piece of land fenced in where they provided a place for bikers coming to the weekend to safely park their bikes and setup their tents. By the end of the weekend about 700 bikers were registered, and each person received a biker’s version of the gospel of Luke with personal testimonies in it. Many contacts were made and conversations about Christ took place. Prayer requests:
  1. Please pray for this important ministry. Pray that the decisions that were made on the weekend would stick and that the seeds that have been planted would grow.
  2. Please continue to pray for the Women’s Encounter Supervisor, who has terrible pain in one of her knees.
  3. Please pray for the Women’s Encounter Team Leader, Justyne, who has discovered a lump on her thyroid. She is going for testing and a biopsy.
  4. Please pray for Danielle’s lyme disease. She is hoping to get another doctor’s opinion since this one is just giving her pain killers.
  5. Please pray for Marriage Encounter Supervisor’s wife as her mother just died and she herself is having terrible back pains and is on pain killers too.
  6. Please pray for Nina and Slawek and Bozena and Leszek as they are having trouble writing testimony to share in November and getting together with their Support couple.
Joseph and Helen Lee (Guatemala)
Prayer requests:
  • Joseph’s mother passed away on Jul 14. Please pray that God will comfort Joseph and Helen and their family during this difficult time.
Stephen and Annette (Silk Road)
Praise God that they received their visas on time to make their scheduled flights back to the field
Prayer requests:
  • Pray for a smooth transition as they settle into their new home.
Daniel and Dominica Lai (Kenya)
Nathaniel is accepted by OM to serve with the gospel ship MV Doulos frm Oct 08- Jan 09. Please let them know if you want to be his prayer partners or financial partners. Daniel and Hannah have had a fruitful week visiting Malawi.
Prayer requests:
  1. Please pray for Nathaniel’s university shopping in Sydney.
  2. There is still lack of Chinese workers to minister the Chinese from Mainland China. Pray that God will send some Chinese Christians to work in Blantyre and Lilongwe soon.
Bill and Ilana Lobbezoo, Cambodia
Prayer requests:
  • Please pray for all involved in the current dorm ministry transitions.  They now have one dorm for the females and one dorm for the males, each with their own leader.  Pray for good relationships between residents and their leaders.  Pray for good attitudes toward rules and guidelines, and for enthusiasm to study the additional spiritual classes required at the dorm. Pray for wisdom for the two leaders, Jenna and Pearum, as they guide their peers.
Lois Belsey (Indonesia)
Pray requests:
  1. Pray that God will provide a resident pilot in Nabire. Kelvin Lynn, who lives in Sentani, is spending some time each month helping out with Nabire flying. Please pray for his health and stress levels, as well as the understanding of nationals to reduce flights.
  2. Please pray for the email to work.
Anne Stephens (Congo)
  • The General Assembly went well. They had a good time of fellowship. There were a 3 hour time of confession of wounds and asking and giving forgiveness. The pastors would kneel down and confess and then go from person to person asking forgiveness. President Oyiaffini was elected by acclamation. The property that they want to buy is next door to their Bible School in Pointe Noire. The new property will have more space for cars and water. In a week, they have received 40k USD. Please let them know if you are willing to commit to giving toward the purchase of this property.
Manjohn and Christina Wong (Netherlands)
Praise the Lord that Mr. & Mrs. Hau prayed to receive Jesus and renounce false gods. Praise the Lord that Romeo and Kitty were able to make it just in time to be baptized despite of Romeo’s father’s critical health situation.
Prayer request:
  1. Please pray that God would help them that their trip home to Canada will be free from trouble.
  2. Please pray for the leaders of the church here, especially Pastor Tang and the elders.
Stanley and Rosa Leung (Venezuela)
Praise God for the good start of the Pre-Teens Fellowship. Only three of the nine pre-teens have Christian parents.
Pray requests:
  1. Pray for the pre-teens’ spiritual growth and for the salvation of their families.
  2. Pray for the counsellors, Jessica and Vianna.
  3. Pray for the visitation ministry of the church which provides caring and evangelism. Pray that this ministry will bear fruit and each team member will be blessed by it.
